ATTRIBUTES
As a senior designer, you will work on diverse interior design projects with global brands and clients. You are able to interpret briefs, brand guidelines, develop imaginative conceptual narratives, and create innovative design in the spirit of byKK studio.
You are comfortable with all stages of interior design – from initial ideation to detailed design through construction. You are self-motivated, proactive, positive thinking, organized and provide flexibility and ability to work on several projects concurrently. You provide solutions and maintain oversight of project objectives and requirements.
You are experienced with architectural principles, standards, processes, and equally in space planning and integration of interiors with architecture. You provide design leadership in collaboration with project architects, consultants, operators, contractors, and all stakeholders in realizing successful projects
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
- Professional degree in architecture or interior design
- Minimum five to seven years post-qualification experience with interior design projects
- Strong conceptual vision and perspective in all elements of interior design
- Strong in presentations – strategy, research, narrative, mood boards
- Strong in industry standard “end-to-end” deliverables – initial concepts through commissioning – drawings, visualizations, specifications, samples, meeting minutes, construction drawings review, etc.
- Fluency in design-industry programs – Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), SketchUp, Enscape, AutoCAD/Vectorworks, Miro, etc. as well as MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent in free-hand sketching
- Excellent knowledge of materiality and finishes with confident sense for colour and style
- Excellent knowledge of FF&E – suppliers, collections, sourcing, pricing, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of bespoke joinery design, details and production
- Managing project budgets and timelines
- Managing project communications and relationships
- Team player as well as ability to oversee, inspire and delegate team works
- Fluent in English – both spoken and written communications. Other languages a plus, particularly Dutch.
- European Union passport or active EU residence and working visa.

ROLE OVERVIEW
As an Architectural Designer / Project Manager at byKK, you will lead the technical delivery of international luxury hospitality projects, working closely with the Creative Director and Project Leader. You will own the drawing coordination, technical documentation, and day-to-day project management from Schematic Design through to IFC, ensuring design intent is accurately translated into a fully coordinated drawing set.
This role is ideal for a technically strong and independently operating designer who thrives in a fast-paced, design-led environment and is comfortable bridging the gap between creative direction and technical execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will:
- Lead drawing coordination across all technical deliverables: plans, elevations, sections, RCPs, floor finish plans, FF&E layouts and technical specifications.
- Review and markup BIM drawings produced by our external BIM partner, ensuring design intent is accurately translated at every stage.
- Sketch and develop typical details, joinery details, and bespoke element details for issue to the BIM team.
- Manage the drawing register, ensuring all documents are properly versioned, named, and tracked throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with sub-consultants (Lighting Design, Signage & Wayfinding) to ensure fully integrated, clash-free drawing sets.
- Liaise with the client’s project manager and architect on technical queries, RFIs, and drawing submissions.
- Chair and minute technical coordination meetings.
- Monitor the project programme for the technical delivery phases (SD, DD, IFC) and proactively flag risks and delays.
- Support the preparation of specifications, schedules of finishes, and FF&E schedules.
- Assist with tender support and IFC documentation through to handover.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
- Professional degree in interior design, interior architecture, or a related field.
- 6+ years of post-graduation experience in interior design or interior architecture, with a strong technical delivery track record.
- Proven experience on luxury hospitality projects, ideally 5-star hotel public areas.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage drawing coordination on a multi-discipline project.
- Strong working knowledge of design and technical software, including:
- AutoCAD and/or Rayon
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Figma Slides
- SketchUp (Enscape a plus)
- MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Confident hand-sketching ability to communicate design intent and detail direction.
- Experience coordinating with MEP, structural, and lighting consultants on integrated drawing sets.
- Strong project management skills: program tracking, issue management, and proactive client communication.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- EU work authorization or valid permit to work in the Netherlands.
DESIRABLE / FORWARD SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE)
- Experience working on UAE or Middle East projects.
- Familiarity with DTCM, DBC, or Dubai Authority submission requirements.
- Understanding of hospitality operator brand standards and technical guidelines.
- Experience with BIM coordination platforms (BIM 360, Navisworks, or similar).
- Understanding of sustainable material choices and low-impact design strategies.
- Based in, or willing to work regularly from the Amsterdam studio.

We are looking for an experienced Project Leader to oversee and lead one or multiple interior architecture and design projects from concept through completion.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Project Leader, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and successful delivery of projects across all phases. You will guide both the creative and technical development of projects while ensuring alignment between design intent, planning, budgets, timelines, and execution.
You will work closely with the Creative Director, design teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards.
This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and design-driven professional with strong leadership and communication skills, capable of managing complex international projects and multidisciplinary teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead one or multiple interior architecture and design projects simultaneously.
- Oversee projects from concept design through design development, documentation, procurement, construction, installation, and final handover.
- Coordinate internal design teams and external consultants throughout all project phases.
- Maintain project planning, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and resource coordination.
- Ensure design intent and quality standards are maintained throughout technical development and execution.
- Lead client communication, presentations, meetings, and project reporting.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders during construction and installation phases.
- Monitor project risks, technical issues, and programme challenges, and proactively develop solutions.
- Oversee project documentation, drawing coordination, specifications, and FF&E processes.
- Support procurement processes, site coordination, and installation reviews.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, technical requirements, and client expectations.
- Mentor and support junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience within interior architecture, interior design, or architecture.
- Proven experience leading high-end hospitality, residential, retail, workspace, or mixed-use projects.
- Strong understanding of both creative design processes and technical project delivery.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and international stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with project planning, budgets, schedules, and resource coordination.
- Proficiency in design and documentation software, including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and MS Office 365.
- Knowledge of FF&E coordination and construction processes.
- Fluent in English, spoken and written; Dutch is a plus.

As Studio Manager you are experienced with architectural or interior design practices, as well as global players in the luxury interior design industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position plays a crucial role in supporting studio responsibilities; including, but not limited to, managing:
STUDIO MANAGEMENT
- Operations – studio space, facilities, insurance, IT support, hardware, software, supplies.
- External consultants and professional services.
- Contracts – NDA’s, vendors.
- Staff resources – recruitment, scheduling, agreements, appraisals, training.
- Freelance resources – scheduling, agreements.
- Travel and logistics.
FINANCE MANAGEMENT
- Bank accounts and cash flow.
- Invoices – issuing, payments.
- Project budgets, costs, tracking team hours.
- Financial reports in collaboration with accounting and corporate teams.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Overall workflow planning in collaboration with project teams.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

STRUCTURE
The studio manager is a full-time position under contract and is based in the Amsterdam studio. The position reports directly to the founder & creative director of byKK.
